Mr. Atkinson is an Operating Partner focused on investment opportunities in the technology sector, and brings to Marlin a wealth of international executive management and operations experience. Mr. Atkinson’s primary responsibilities include conducting due diligence and providing operational support and oversight to Marlin portfolio companies.

Mr. Atkinson’s industry experience is broad based including several years in payment processing as well as over 20 years in enterprise software and services businesses. Prior to Marlin, Mr. Atkinson was Executive Vice President of the Payment Systems Business of Verifone Holdings, reporting directly to the CEO, with global responsibility for the Payment Terminal Business and revenue responsibility of $720 million. Mr. Atkinson also had operational responsibility for the International Division (EMEA, LAC and ASPAC), and under his leadership, revenue increased from $100 million to over $400 million. Prior to joining VeriFone, Mr. Atkinson served in executive positions in the enterprise software industry including Executive Vice President at Cayenta, a subsidiary of Titan Corporation, focused on enterprise application software and hosted applications serving the major retail segment. Prior thereto, Mr. Atkinson was CEO of Expersoft Corporation. Under his leadership, the company transformed itself from a traditional OSS software company to a world-class telecommunications infrastructure software provider and was successfully sold to Vertel Corporation. After the sale of Expersoft, Mr. Atkinson remained with Vertel where he held the position of Senior Vice President, and led a worldwide sales organization with extensive international operations. Mr. Atkinson earned a B.S. in Business Administration / Marketing from Northern Illinois University.
